Below are some of my favourite images from drag performances as sordid queer insect creature Uggly Bugga in 2023/2024.

Uggly was born in early 2023 in Edinburgh Student Housing Co-op's poorly-lit basement, to an unholy matrimony of young egotistical gaga fans and a festering piece of cottage cheese that had stuck to the bottom of the wilfully-ignored communal food waste bin. Nurtured through the co-creation of, and subsequent collaboration with, DIY drag group The Haus of Cooper Kunt; Uggly became a somewhat competent live drag performer, hawking lip-synced multi-genre musical displays and frequently appearing on stage half-naked before covering themselves in various messy condiments and desserts.

Highlights of Uggly's appearances are those conducted within larger elaborate Cooper Kunt productions, such as their role as sausage-fingered King Charles in The Royal Drag Koronation and as the sentient embodiment of Shit in the Halloween cabaret spectacular Bodily Fluids.

Since leaving Edinburgh and retiring from live drag performance Uggly hasn't yet made an appearance in Glasgow, though I know they're itching for a go round the block. I'm thinking of reprising this persona soon-ish, likely in a filmed format. I want to build out the characters lore, world and wardrobe; and have this be the focus of the work rather than the entertainment concerns inherent with drag shows and cabaret performances.
